A numerical model for the recrystallization kinetics of tungsten monoblocks under cyclic heat loads

The recrystallization assisted microstructural changes during cyclic heat exposure are surmised detrimental to the thermal fatigue resistance of tungsten monoblocks that cover surface divertor components a nuclear fusion reactor. A numerical framework predict in is presented this work. based on model coupled Johnson-Mehl-Avrami-Kolomogorov (JMAK) type model. influence initial (starting) state, i.e. degree deformation, extent recrystallization, considered through activation energy for recrystallization. For highly deformed microstructure, significantly more observed compared self-diffusion driven within range 322 350 kJmol−1 monoblock determined from simulated relation experimental observations differently processed monoblocks. heating time per cycle different energies also investigated.
